News items

Using news items, you can quickly publish news, notices, and notifications. You can also combine news items with other components to act as placeholders for the news items.

In the following example, two news items are displayed on a page using an entity list. You can include hyperlinks in news items as illustrated in the Cool off with colorful mocktails news item where Fruitful mocktails links to a website.

Create a news item

To create a news item:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click News items.

  3. On the News item page, click + News item.

  4. In the News item dialog box, define the following parameters:

    • Title - required field used to identify the news item.

    • Type - determines how the news item displays on the page. Use the Home featured type to display a single news item on the page. Use the Home carousel type to display multiple news items on the page using a carousel.

    • Links - can contain hyperlinks and images (portal assets or all assets).

    • Description - can contain hyperlinks and images (portal assets or all assets) but is used mainly for text input.

  5. To add an image, click Add , select the check box next to the image you want to add, and click OK.

  6. Click Save.

Add a news item to a page component

To add a news item to a page component:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click Pages.

  3. On the page portal, select the page you want to use (for example, News Items).

  4. Click the Layout tab and, in the main zone, for example, click Add component and add a page component (for example, an Entity list).

  5. Next to the page component, click More options and then click Edit.

  6. Click the Select tab and, in the Entity definitions section, from the Definition list, choose News item.

  7. In the Take field, enter the number of news items to display.

  8. Click the Output tab and click Add output property.

  9. In the Add output parameter dialog box, from the Type list, select Property and, from the Property list, select Link.

  10. In the Label field, define a label (for example, News items) and, optionally, from the Action list, associate an action with the output and then click Add.

  11. Repeat steps 8, 9, and 10 to add the property Description.

  12. Click the Template tab and, from the Category list, specify how the News item is displayed (for example, Image grid) and then click one of the templates to use in the layout.

  13. To add a label to the entity list, click the Labels tab and, in the Title field, enter a label (for example, News items).

  14. Click Save and close.
