Vertical and horizontal facets

A facet can be vertical or horizontal:

  • Vertical facets are available in the left-side menu below the search filters.

  • Horizontal facets are available below the full-text search bar.

Drill-down values

Facets allow users to drill down hierarchical values in order to narrow down search results.

  • For vertical facets, users can drill down the values using the arrow next to any value. Clicking the arrows opens a window where users can browse the different hierarchical values of the facet.

  • For horizontal facets, users can drill down the values by clicking on the dropdown list, applying the parent value, then clicking on the dropdown list again to select a child value.

Multi-select values

Note

This feature is only available for vertical facets. The Multi-select and Collapsed by default settings for facets cannot be used together.

You can configure facets to allow the selection of multiple values at once. When you activate the Multi-select option on the facet and create a combined filter using the standard facet selection, the filter is created with an AND operator.

In the following example, the filtering is Asset media of png AND Asset media of Images:

If you use the advanced selection of facets function, the same selection is created with an OR operator. In the following example, the filtering is Asset media of png OR Asset media of Images:

Remove values

Users can clear their facet selection to reset their search filters.

  • For vertical facets, users can clear their selection by unchecking the selected checkboxes or by clearing the search filter using Clear filters.

  • For horizontal facets, users can clear their selection by clicking X in the selected horizontal facet or by clearing the search filter using Clear filters.
